Gupshup WhatsApp Business API integration allows you to connect your WhatsApp Business account with Fiko's customer service platform. This enables you to manage WhatsApp conversations alongside other channels in one unified interface.

Setup Process
Create Gupshup Account
Start by creating a Gupshup account. Gupshup offers both Enterprise and Self-Serve account types depending on your business needs.
- Go to login.gupshup.io/u/signup to get started
- Choose account type: Enterprise (full-featured with dedicated support) or Self-Serve (flexible pay-as-you-go)
- Complete the registration form with your business information
- Verify your email address through the confirmation email
Set Up WhatsApp Business API
Create a WhatsApp Business API app in your Gupshup dashboard to enable messaging capabilities and connect your business number.
Create WhatsApp App
- Log in to your Gupshup console dashboard
- Click "Create your first app" or "Add New App"
- Select Access API when prompted for app type
- Enter a unique app name based on your brand (e.g. mybrand_whatsapp)
- Select WhatsApp as your messaging channel
Connect Phone Number
- Provide a dedicated business phone number (not in use with WhatsApp consumer or WhatsApp Business App)
- Verify phone number ownership through OTP (SMS or voice)
- Link your Facebook Business Manager account
- Complete the Meta business verification process
- Wait for WhatsApp approval — usually 1–3 business days
Migration note: If you're migrating from WhatsApp Business App, your existing chats will not be transferred. Plan your migration carefully and notify your customers before switching to the Business API.
Configure Account Settings
Configure your Gupshup WhatsApp app with the necessary API credentials and settings for secure communication with Fiko's platform.
Retrieve API Credentials
- Open your WhatsApp app from the Gupshup dashboard
- Navigate to the "Settings" tab
- Note down your App Name, App ID, API Key, and Phone Number
Security note: Your API Key is like a password. Never share it publicly or commit it to version control. Fiko encrypts and securely stores these credentials.
Add Account to Fiko
Connect your Gupshup WhatsApp account to Fiko using our secure integration wizard. This process automatically handles webhook configuration and security setup.
Integration Wizard Steps
Provider Selection
In Fiko, go to Settings → Channels → Add Channel → WhatsApp Business → choose Gupshup
Account Information
Enter your Gupshup API Key, App Name, and WhatsApp phone number with country code (e.g. 917834811114)
Webhook Configuration
Fiko automatically generates your webhook URL. Copy it and configure it in the Gupshup Webhooks tab: set the callback URL, enable Message events and System events, then save.
Verification
System tests the connection and verifies all credentials are working correctly
Complete Integration
Finalize webhook setup in Gupshup and verify the connection with a test message.
Test Your Integration
- Send a test message to your WhatsApp Business number
- Check that the message appears in your Fiko dashboard
- Reply from Fiko to confirm two-way communication works
- Verify message delivery status updates correctly
WhatsApp 24-Hour Window: You can send free-form session messages only within 24 hours of the customer's last message. Outside this window, you'll need to use pre-approved template messages.
