Connect Shopify
Connect your Shopify store to Fiko in one step. Your AI assistant and your agents can then look up a customer's profile by email, or an order's status by order number, without leaving the conversation. Fiko creates the connection and both lookups for you — there is no URL or field mapping to set up by hand.
Shopify customer
Found by the customer's email. The assistant and agents see:
- First name
- Last name
- Phone
- Account state
- Orders count
- Total spent
- Last order number
- Customer since
- Tags
- City
- Country
Shopify order status
Found by the order number the customer gives in the chat. The assistant and agents see:
- Order number
- Placed at
- Payment status
- Fulfillment status
- Cancelled at
- Total
- Currency
- Carrier
- Tracking number
- Tracking URL
Before You Start in Shopify
Fiko signs in to your store with an app you create. Do these steps in Shopify first.
Create an app in the Shopify Dev Dashboard
In the Shopify Dev Dashboard, create an app that belongs to the same organization as your store. Add the read_customers and read_orders scopes, then release a version of the app.
Choose Custom distribution
In the Shopify Partner Dashboard, open your app, go to Distribution, and choose Custom distribution. Shopify does not allow this choice to be changed afterwards. Without it, Shopify refuses to return customer and order data.
Install the app on your store
Install the app on the store you want to connect and approve the access Shopify asks for.
Copy the Client ID and Client secret
In the Dev Dashboard, open the app's Settings and copy the Client ID and the Client secret.
Already have a custom app with an Admin API access token (it starts with shpat_)? You can use that token instead of the Client ID and Client secret. Shopify no longer lets you create new apps of that older type.
Connect in Fiko
Go to Settings → Apps & Integrations → Data Connections and click Add connection, then pick the Shopify card.
- Enter a connection name and your store's .myshopify.com domain
- Choose how to sign in: Client ID and Client secret, or Admin API access token
- Fill in the matching fields and click Connect and continue — Fiko checks them against your store first
- Choose which channels can use the connection. By default every channel can, including channels added later
- Finish. The connection and both lookups are saved and ready to use
If Shopify rejects the credentials, you see Shopify's message and nothing is created, so you can correct the details and try again.
After You Connect
Test a lookup
Open the connection, go to Data Lookups, pick a lookup and use Test this lookup with a real email or order number. You see exactly what the assistant and agents will see, or "No data for this customer" when nothing matches.
Tokens are handled for you
With a Client ID and Client secret, Fiko requests Shopify's short-lived access tokens itself and renews them when they expire. Your secret is stored with the connection and is not shown again after you save it.
Order status and privacy
The order lookup shows status and tracking only — no customer details — but it works for any order number someone gives in the chat. You can turn off Let the assistant look this up on its own on the lookup so only agents can run it, or switch the lookup off.
Change what is shown
Both lookups work like any other Data Source. You can rename them, change the description the assistant reads, and add or remove returned fields. See Data Connections.
Troubleshooting
"Shopify did not issue an access token for this client ID and secret (HTTP 404)"?
- Check the store domain — it must be the .myshopify.com address, not your custom domain
- Check that the Client ID and Client secret belong to the same app
- Make sure the app is installed on this store and belongs to the same Shopify organization as the store
A lookup says "The API rejected the request (403)" and mentions protected customer data?
- In the Partner Dashboard, open the app and go to Distribution, then choose Custom distribution
- This choice is permanent, so set it on the app you actually plan to use with Fiko
- Run the lookup again after choosing it
A lookup says there is no data for this customer?
- For the customer lookup, check that the email matches a customer in the store exactly
- For the order lookup, enter the order number as customers see it, for example #1001
- Without Shopify's read-all-orders access, only orders from the last 60 days can be found
Fiko uses Shopify's Admin API version 2026-10. The version is part of the connection's base URL, which you can edit in the connection's settings.
